Most people are happy to the extent that they are at peace with every part of themselves, accepting not only the pretty, noble, parts of their persona, but accepting that they have dark sides, undiscovered facets, hidden talents, fears, regrets, shame, and amazing potential that only create tension and potential havoc when they are ignored, repressed, or denied.
The world is richer when people share who they are and what they are good at or passionate about.
Chances are slim that people are going to get into long-term therapy to discover and claim all the parts of themselves. I also believe that therapy can be either misused or unused and may be an excuse for living unfulfilling lives rather than finding a way to reduce mindsets and behavior that don’t serve us well.
